What is wrong with this picture?

I love this scan - it is from the site Radiology Image of the Day which I have linked to the right.

See if you can pick what is wrong with the picture before you go to the original site (which I love!). Even first-years should pick this one!

  1. I was going to guess a marble.. :P

  2. I don't think the glass on a marble would be as radio-opaque as that.

I was surprised that the vitamin-k tablet would be so dense on the scan, but there you go.

  3. see, this is always why i hate CTs...i looked at the chest, hilums, lung fields, etc, but COMPLETELY missed the large, radio-opacity right smak dab in the middle of the trachea...UGH!

  4. I'm with amib. I didn't even see it because I was so focused on the lungs.

  5. Woo! I picked it (and I don't have any training on what a normal CT looks like!!)... Not that I could have said what it was - just that it didn't seem normal.

  6. Aaaaaa!!!

That was my first reaction. But I react like that to about every 20th x-ray/CT/angiography I see.

Is it really a vit K tablet?

  7. According to the site, it is a "Slow K" - potassium supplement.

  8. haha, this scan is gold. I noticed it pretty much straight away because, although there is a lot of dense tissue in that slice, the perfectly round nature of the pill gave it away. Love them...

  9. I got it, but only after I went away and came back. For some reason, the first time I looked I swear it wasn't there!
