It is time

I think that the time has most probably come for me to stop posting in this blog. For a while now, I just haven't really had the energy or seen the point of writing.
When I first started, it was to share in the excitement and stress of transitioning to medical school, and getting through it all. Now that I am more than half-way through third year and am spending all of my time on clinical attachments, I feel like I don't really have anything else to say publicly about what is happening. All my thoughts are on what I see through the day in the hospitals, as opposed to what I was thinking about while studying purely from books.
I still love studying medicine, even though it is currently very time-consuming (more contact hours than I had in my previous full-time job), and everything is going well. It is so nice to be back in the hospitals full-time. I really missed it.
Anything that I have to post is either too generic or too personal to go up on a public blog. I don't like writing publicly about people that I work with - I don't have anything negative to write, but it feels wrong, somehow, to be doing so.
This is just a quick post to give you a heads-up on the potential changes, so that you know what happens if I disappear or stop posting here completely. All is well, just a little different. :)

Many of us have enjoyed your thoughts and experiences, without having to go to medical school ourselves.
I respect your decision, if you think it is best. Thank you. I am glad that you are happiest full-time in the hospital.

All the best with the rest of med school.

Hey, that's understandable. I'm chosing to think that you've gone quiet, but not gone away. I hope you'll continue to love the rest of your medical studies, and that if perchance there is something you feel you can blog about, you will. I'll be checking in once in a while just in case.

I understand where you are coming from, and I wish you the very best with your med journey. I hope that you do keep a little of the enthusiasm you started with and still get a buzz when you tackle a difficult scenario or see something really rare.

Regards,

Kaydon

I hear you... Have been struggling with "blogging fatigue" too these last few months.

Like the others say, your decision to take a break sounds like the move. You can always come back if you want.

Here is my small suggestion. Since the med schools are so hot on "reflective practice" nowadays, why not keep a diary/jottings book (yes, I mean a real A4/A5 book!) and make the odd note (say at the week's end?) of what has been especially noteworthy ? May help with "processing" all the new experiences. (and with the dreaded "Portfolio" if they have one of those where you are studying)

Plus, if you ever decided to "re-up" on the blog, that way you will have some material in the bank.

Thanks for all of your comments.

Dr Aust, that is a great idea. I will do that. :)
