My cunning plan

Final exams are looming, and I am rather . . . behind.

Luckily, I have made a Study Plan! It is guaranteed to succeed. I know this for a fact, because:

1) I made it up on my computer;

2) It is in the form of a table, with official-looking columns and rows;

3) I have used fancy lettering;

4) If it doesn't succeed, I will be in Big Trouble;

5) There is no way in HELL that I am going back to my old job permanently, and as such, I am driven by a big scary monster called FEAR;

6) The last exam was bloody painful, and I would like this one to be slightly less so.

Huzzah! It can't fail!

Hope the plan works!!!

My study plans never work out because I always WAY overestimate the amount of work that I can do in a day. It goes something like this:
Internal monologue: "okay, so I have 40 lectures to learn in the 10 days I have before the exam, so every day I'll do 4 lectures. I know it takes me three hours to review each lecture properly, and that this means 12 hours of studying every day, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!"

Then I end up only getting 5 or 6 hours of studying done per day because my brain starts refusing to cooperate.

I organize it based on how much work there is to be done rather than on how much work I can feasibly do in a day, and I find myself sitting at my desk at 10 o'clock at night with tons more work to do but no energy left to do it.

Hopefully you're much better at study planning than I am!

Don't beat yourself up - as long as you are happy that you did the best that you could have reasonably done, that is all that anybody could ask of us, right?:)

You just have to get used to prioritising in medical school - there is no way it is humanly possible to cover it all, so you have to make sure that you summarise the key points, learn the main concepts and study through semester as you go. Some bits will be missed, but that is life.

Then that will be Excellent Excuse Number 1. :)

Prioritizing... I'll have to get better at that :)
